Castlewood, Centennial Neighborhood

Castlewood is a tranquil neighborhood known for its quiet streets and pleasant atmosphere. It offers convenient access to several green spaces, including Walnut Park Hills, providing ample opportunities for outdoor relaxation. The area features a predominance of charming single detached homes built mostly during the 1960s, 1970s, and 1990s, with spacious layouts typically including three or more bedrooms. Nearby, numerous restaurants and coffee shops create a welcoming dining scene. Accessibility is enhanced by multiple bus lines and proximity to highways, while a variety of local businesses support daily activities. Cycling infrastructure is also present, making this neighborhood a well-rounded place to settle.

No matter what type of character home buyers prefer in a neighborhood, Castlewood is a reasonably good option. Castlewood is very quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamor. However, public green spaces, like Trails and Foxridge Parks, are very well-distributed and there are approximately 20 of them nearby for residents to visit, which makes it easy to reach them. Finally, although the atmosphere is not the most lively in this area with its around 10 nightlife venues, there are options for nighttime activities.

Parks, schools, dining, and what makes this neighborhood special

🏊 Castlewood HOA Recreation Complex

At the heart of Castlewood, the homeowners association’s amenity area brings together a junior Olympic pool, wading pool, pavilion, playground, tennis and pickleball courts, basketball court, soccer field, and volleyball court. These facilities give residents a distinctly community-centered place for summer swimming, casual sports, children’s play, and neighborhood gatherings without leaving the Castlewood streets.

📚 Castlewood Library

Located at 6739 S. Uinta Street, Castlewood Library is one of the neighborhood’s most recognizable landmarks and a convenient community resource. The small, family-oriented branch offers children’s programming, meeting space, collections, and a makerspace, making it especially useful for households near Uinta Street and the surrounding Castlewood residential blocks.

🏫 Walnut Hills Community Elementary School

Walnut Hills Community Elementary School, at 8195 E. Costilla Boulevard, is a nearby Cherry Creek School District institution that helps define Castlewood’s family appeal. Its location near the neighborhood and Castlewood Library supports a practical, school-centered lifestyle, while the surrounding sidewalks and residential streets reinforce the area’s established, community-oriented character.

🍽️ East Arapahoe Road Dining Corridor

Castlewood residents benefit from quick access to the restaurant concentration along East Arapahoe Road near Yosemite Street and I-25. Nearby options include Godavari, Hyderabad House, Hong Kong Station, First Watch, Deli Zone, and Carrera’s Tacos, creating an unusually broad mix of Indian, Asian, Mexican, breakfast, and casual dining close to the neighborhood.

🚴 Arapahoe Road and I-25 Connections

Castlewood’s position west of I-25 and near East Arapahoe Road is a defining practical advantage. Streets such as Uinta, Costilla, and nearby Yosemite provide local access to shopping, restaurants, schools, and employment centers in the Denver Tech Center, while the highway connection makes trips toward Greenwood Village, Park Meadows, and central Denver especially straightforward.
